Hello Everyone!

I’ve received a few questions and comments I wanted to respond to and provide some information from my own point of view as well.

Question:

Why are your picture backgrounds so plain?  (Then they offered to help make pictures for me – which was super nice)  Don’t you think your poses would show better if you placed the poses in settings?

My Answer:

You may have a point in regards to placing my poses in settings.  I do try, if I feel the background is absolutely necessary to show off the pose set.
When I started submitting pose sets to TSR and MTS, their requirements for pictures were clear:

1.  they prefer plain backgrounds as to not distract from the set.
2.  certain joints needed to be visible for their approval.

Which is why my female sims are usually in shirts that show their shoulders and clavicle area, and the men are wearing t-shirts.  Typically, the sims wear shorts or capri pants, so you can see knees, and bare feet to see ankles.

Since I started this way, I just carried on in this fashion so I didn’t have to make two different picture sets: one for my site and one for uploading to them.

However, I will say without criticizing anyone at all, that if I see a pose set where the sim is wearing big and baggy clothing, I’m immediately suspicious.  Doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with the poses at all, but I wonder, what they are covering up.  I prefer to see the joints so I know exactly what I am getting before I download.  Often, I will choose not to download the set at all, if I can’t see the joints.

Finally, I get very annoyed when sets are displayed with very dark colours and complicated backgrounds with low lighting so you can hardly see the set.

Question:

Often when I pose sims, their heads/necks and facial expressions are wrong and I have to pose the sim several times.  How can I fix that?

My Answer:

I completely understand!  This annoys and drives me to frustration at times.  Especially, when I am testing out poses with a lot of sims in the room.  

Sims are easily distracted by other sims and they distract themselves with their constant movements.  Or their phone rings or a notification pops up just as your sim is moving into the pose and for a second, stops the movement.  Etc, etc.  Maddening!  It has nothing to do with the set itself.

So I was asked to post this tutorial on how to easily work around this issue.

1.  My sim is looking left in this pose, instead of straight.  Grrrrrrr!

   

   He was distracted by his mom who is swaying back and forth, as they do when nothing is going on.

2. Click on the pose player again and choose Use Current Pose.  Now you have two pose player actions in the top left corner.
   
   

3. Cancel the first pose request on the left, which is the wrong pose your sim is currently in.

   After the first action cancels, your sim will pop into the right pose.
   

   During posing, I often use the pause button to help keep them standing still and hopefully looking forward.  Otherwise they try to move about and initiate actions such as talking to one another or even worse, PLAYING ON THEIR PHONE!!!  Double GRRRRR!

   I have tried different strategies in the past to keep the sims from being distracted by one another.  For example, sticking the sims in a small box room alone, before clicking on the pose player clapboard.  But constantly moving the sim in and out was time consuming and a little frustrating.  Plus it didn’t always keep the sim from being distracted by themselves.
