Hey Everyone!

A few months ago around the beginning of March, I decided to finish up the last of my poses and end my brief career as a pose creator.

I’m sure you have heard me say it before, I started posing simply because I couldn’t find the poses I needed for my story and I continued creating because sitting down in front of Blender was a great stress reliever for me after a stressful, emotional day looking after my mom.

Many factors came into play for making this decision, most I won’t explain.  However one thing I will tell you, six months before March I had noticed a real drop in my views and downloads for my poses.

Simfileshare

The picture above is a snap shot of my recent sets, but I included this to show you how low my DL numbers were looking like for quite some time. Mind you these numbers above are higher than the ones in March.  Things have picked up a bit for me recently.  However my numbers on T.S.R. have also dropped.

Now I’ve never been the kind of person who cares about the number of downloads or the popularity vote.  I’m barely on social media, and I’m not putting myself out there to be seen like other creators.  When I saw my numbers drop as they had, I figured more and more people were moving on to Sims 4, which meant my poses were no longer needed.  That’s not necessarily a bad thing.

If I truly cared about popularity, I would be putting out mostly model, couple and even XXX poses, which I have no interest in doing.  Especially since there are so many out there already.  If most people have moved on to Sims 4, I would like to try new things as well especially since a single pose set usually takes me 2 weeks to fully complete.

In the past few months I have switched to a more “situational style” of posing.  Creating poses to help support storytellers display the full situation from start to finish, sometimes in many variations.  Hoping to prevent storytellers from searching thru many different sets to find poses that will work in some way to tell what is happening.  I know how frustrating that can be.

Am I moving on to Sims 4 poses?  Probably not.  I may still switch over my current sets to Sims 4, but to be honest, there are so many great pose creators out there for Sims 4, I don’t think I am really needed.  I may change my mind in the coming months.

Before I make my final decision, I was hoping I could ask if you would answer a few questions for me so I could see where everyone is at in their game. I still have about 20 sets I need to finish, some being redo’s of old sets, which means I will be around a little while yet for sure.

So on to the questions.  Please answer for me in the comments below, or send me an email if you choose: posesbybee@gmail.com

1.  Are you playing Sims 3?  Sims 4?

2.  Do you have a story based in Sims 3?

3.  Do you use poses?

4.  Optional question – Do you use  my poses, now or have in the past?

Thank you for doing that for me and always for checking out my pose set posts, even if you are no longer playing Sims 3,  I appreciate all of your support – Now and Forever!

Sincerely,

Bee!

I understand your decision. Myself, I’m actually planning to move away from Sims as a whole, but before that I will probably have finished generation 6 and posted all my leftover poses.
You’ve created so many poses, Bee, and be proud of the work you’ve done! ♥

Thank you Jowita! And sorry for the crappy version of this message. For some reason, WP published the unsaved version without all the fixes. No idea why it did that!

I didn’t know you planned on stopping, but I’m sorry to hear it. I get what you mean, though – sometimes it doesn’t seem like there are a lot of ts3 players around and depending on the types of poses you make, they might not get a lot of use.
As for your questions, here goes:

    1. Are you playing Sims 3? Sims 4?
I don’t really play either of the games, but I stage photo shoots all the time.

    2. Do you have a story based in Sims 3?
I do! Two that are ongoing.

    3. Do you use poses?
    Yup! I’m actually addicted.

    4. Optional question – Do you use my poses, now or have in the past?
I do. I haven’t used them a lot in the past, but I recently needed portrait poses that were very useful for a shoot. And I’ve been using some of the storytelling poses. It’s so hard to find good storytelling poses that are also good quality, so I’m extremely grateful for yours. 🙂

Whether or not you decide to stop your pose-making, I really like the ones you’ve made and I’m sure I’ll be using them in the future. 🙂

Thank you for answering the questions for me and responding. Sorry about the post being wrong. For some reason the unsaved copy published instead of the one I had finished. Weird. but I fixed it now. TBH, I have no idea what I am doing. I still love posing, but it does take a lot of time to finish one set, test them in game, which can mean loading my game as much as 15 times with new fixed poses, get all the pics, the alter all the pics, make the pose pack, do the post itself, make the zip file….it’s a long process. I made two test sets, the pinup one and the desire one as tests to see if people were even seeing my page and they are. The pinup one flew of T.S.R. so fast. So maybe I am making poses no one is interested in. I’ve tried hard not to repeat a set that is already done by someone and available to download and look for themes scenarios that can’t be found anywhere. I’m sure over time the numbers will increase. But I have to also face the fact that I came into this too late.

I’ve seen my poses in your story and they look great! Thank you for using them Louise!

    1. Sims 3 only and sometimes Sims 2.
    2. I have a bunch of stories all based in Sims 3. Maybe 5 or 6?
    3. Yes, I use poses.
    4. Yes! I use quite a lot of your poses and appreciate the family related ones and situational poses very much for my stories. Thank you 🙂

I think the drop is mostly because Lana CC Finds stopped to reblog our things. I noticed the same thing. Believe, people still needing and wanting Sims 3 poses. To be honest, I think is the opposite. I saw so many people coming back for TS3 lately because ts4 is booooooring to death. LOL
And thank you for all your poses!

I think the drop is mostly because Lana CC Finds stopped to reblog our stuff. Just that. Because, in fact i think is the opposite. I saw so many people back to TS3 after years on TS4 lately. And the community is strong as always.
And thank you for all your poses!

Thank you!! I didn’t consider Lana and I should have for sure. But I did notice the same thing, people going back to Sims 3. Perhaps, it’s just me then. Like I said, I’m not big on the social scene as I am really quite shy!

I love all the poses on your site!

    1. Are you playing Sims 3? Sims 4?
I use TS3 to illustrate my stories. I play TS4.

    2. Do you have a story based in Sims 3?
I have several on going stories. I plan on continuing them as long as I have story ideas and my computer plays the game.

    3. Do you use poses?
Yes I do. Poses are essential for my stories.

    4. Optional question – Do you use my poses, now or have in the past?
Yes I do. I love the children based ones. I haven’t used a lot recently just because my current legacies haven’t started having children for the next generation yet.

I love you’re poses. They are so well thought out!
Thank you for making and sharing them!

Thank you so much for answering so fully. I’m wondering then, if what I am missing for you on my site is more adult poses then? I have tried to focus a lot of my attention on children because poses for that age seemed to be non existent on the net. Recently I am trying to get more adult things done. Let me know what you think.

You’re welcome! What I find I look for a lot and haven’t found a lot of are poses for sims riding in a car because sometimes you need your sims to be in a certain spot in the car and not randomly assigned by the game. Also poses between adult sims and teenagers or teenagers between younger siblings. That’s just a few things I’m looking for currently with poses.

Thank you for getting back to me. Can you describe the situations between teens and younger siblings? Also I have avoided the car thing, only because I haven’t investigated CC cars yet. But I will give that a go shortly.

For instance a teen comforting their younger siblings after a death in the family or say their parents are fighting. Or teens teasing younger kids or playing with them. I completely understand the car thing. I don’t know how to make poses but I can just imagine how much work goes into them.

Just read through all the comments, and dandylion240 interpelled me with their request for car poses! I usually use sitting poses and fiddle around with OMSP quite a bit! I think it might be tricky, as I guess the steering wheels are not at the same distance or height depending on the car… Poses for kids on bikes are also almost non-existant. I think I’ve found one, and I’m using it all the time! 🙂

See I’ve tried to stay away from poses for actions that are already available in game. So riding a bike is not something I would have thought to do, but now I see a whole bunch of ideas in my head……. The kiddie pool poses will be out in a day or two. Poses tweaked and pics complete, the post is already made. I just need to put the pose pack together and make the file for pose code users. Father’s day today, so I will be gone all day. Tomoro, root canal…ugggg, don’t know who many days that will put me down for with my trigeminal neuralgia. I haven’t seen my mom all week because I was so sick with the pain from this tooth, feeling guilty.

Can’t wait for the kiddie pool! Riding bikes is always bugging me, as the kids line up, often very far apart. With poses they can bike next to each other, or together! 🙂 Don’t feel bad about about your mom, I’m sure she knows how much you love her and how much you care for her. Best wishes for tomorrow, I hope you’ll be all right soon!

Thank you for letting me know. Can you tell me why only T.S.R? Unfortunately many of my poses I can’t put up on T.S.R because of the content, like my latest one That’s My Girl. That will never get up there because of the fighting scene which is not allowed. I did manage to get my Cell Interuptus up there but only after I removed two poses; the one where the guy was crawling over the girl to get his cell phone off the nightstand. Those poses you can see in the set on my site here. I have a few others as well. I haven’t asked MTS to clarify their rules. On T.S.R as Select Artist, I can approve my own poses and they go up when I want. As long as I follow all the rules. For MTS I have to make changes to my submission if they don’t like the pictures etc and it takes more time. A few sets ago, I had to completely redo my pics for them. I’m not complaining, just stating the difference between the two sites. I’m so happy to have S.A. at TSR.

Thank you for using my poses! I very much appreciate it!

Hey there! I’m here to answer some questions!

    1. Are you playing Sims 3? Sims 4?
    I play Sims 3
    2. Do you have a story based in Sims 3?
    Yes, quite a few actually.
    3. Do you use poses?
    Yes, quite a lot
    4. Optional question – Do you use my poses, now or have in the past?
I have used yours and I do want to use more of them. I plan on downloading more and using your school ones really soon!

I love that you make such realistic poses that I think would really make somebody’s scene! I hope you continue to keep going and I’m curious…have you ever considered doing pose requests for others? I know there are so many poses that I would love to have made for my stories but it’s always so confusing on who to ask sometimes.

      Thank you Bitzoisims for answering!

I have said in the past that I don’t take requests and it’s not because I don’t want to, please be assured. I have 4 children and a mother with dementia that takes up a lot of my time and I fit posing in between all my responsibilities. I do however take suggestions, which come with no time frame, and if I like the idea, I usually give it a go. For example, I’ve been asked if I could do vintage portraits. I always research to make sure there aren’t already good sets out there first before deciding to make a set. I don’t want to set on anyone’s toes. And vintage sets are something people have been begging for. So I am almost finished that set. It will likely be up in a week. So ask away but I reserve the right to say no. I’m always in need of good ideas.

No worries. That statement is under the tab Say Hi To Bee, which is a place that had my email if you wanted to suggest something to me, or leave a comment suggestion. I do need some new ideas if you have any at all. But I can’t get anything out to anyone in a few days. So it is good to know what you may need a month in advance, maybe 2-3 weeks.

I’m so sorry to hear that you want to stop creating, I’ll truly miss your poses. I firmly beleive you are one of the most talented out there, not many creators worry about expressions and reality as you do. But then again, a game is all about relaxation, so if you feel you’re not up to it anymore you should not feel the pressure to continue – at least for a while. Take a break, short or long, and start again when you feel up to it. I – and I think I’m not alone – will be waiting impatiently for you to come back!

    1. Are you playing Sims 3? Sims 4?
    TS3 (I’ve tried 4, but no, thanks)
    2. Do you have a story based in Sims 3?
    Yes, the Grey Witches
    3. Do you use poses?
    Yes, all the time.
    4. Optional question – Do you use my poses, now or have in the past?
Yes, you have become my main source and I sure hope I will get to use more of your work in the future!

I respect your decision, whichever it will turn out to be, I’m just happy you’ll be around for a while more!

Thank you Jill! That wa all so very kind and definitely ego boosting. I must say I do need a bit of that these days after everything that has happened. No decision has been made yet. I think I will need to open up more to the public and gage what they need from now on instead of coming up with things on my own. I know you are always a great source of ideas. your vintage poses are half done, but I am struggling to find clothing for the pics. I have spent quite a bit of time doing that instead of finishing the last two poses.

I think the vintage poses you sent me are more clothes from the late 1880’s or 90’s. I have a few things from game I could alter but won’t be perfect. I don’t want to use anything that could look like the 50’s for sure. I’m hoping to finish those vintage poses off tonight, ….oh but now I really want to start bike poses…focus Bee…FOCUS!

I’m glad you’re so enthusiastic! I was also more into the late 19th century, but as formal goes, nothing much has changed over the decades! I’m sure you’ll come up with just the right thing! There are a few Empire dresses, early 19th century, but I think they can be used with “people” posing for a painted portrait… Thanks for investing so much of your time!

I find it amazing people can walk on a broken foot, but my 11 year old daughter did it for a week before scans finally came back and we had to take her back in for a cast. Doctor was positive it was not broken. Feel better! And rest!

Still two weeks to go before summer vacation, I had the choice between a traditional cast and a removable boot. Picked the boot, can shower like that, and I’ll take it off to drive (hush, don’t tell!)… Kids are very resilient, and sometimes because adults don’t really listen to them or don’t take their pain for real. Dang doctors are human, too, and unfortunately can make mistakes!

    Hello Bee,
I always like your poses and was very glad to use them.
    They’re just perfect.
I do stories with poses, but mostly telling them, while playing and collecting them
afterwards into my blog. I’m not into Sims 4.
This time I’m playing with mermaids, desperately looking for drowning poses.
There were no appropriate poses for teens before yours,
the lost children poses is a rare creation too.
So don’t say, it’s all there already. Yours are special.
You spent a lot of time for making them,I can understand,
that so poor reactions eat the fun.
    And time is moving on.
Many friends left the Sims 3 and the community too.
I’m sad about it, but I thank you for all your efforts you did.
And of course, I like your story too.

Thank you Liese for the kind words. I think I will be sticking around a while yet. All these responses have given me renewed hope and lots of new ideas to try. You are right about the eating the fun. But like I said, it’s not about needing high DL’s. It really boils down to guilt for me. I do have a lot of responsibilities, especially with my mom and so taking so long to create a pose set, sometimes eats into time I need to be doing other things. If I had more time to sit and do a set with no other distractions, I could get them out much faster. But everything else has to take priority. I have so many things I wish I had time to make!

I play Sims 3 and there’s always a story involved, in some saves through gameplay in others through poses. Being a pose-creator myself, I really admire and appreciate your work and of course I actually use your poses too! I love the situational approach you’re taking, even though some of the situations may never occur in my specific story. So it may not even be obvious sometimes that I used a pose of yours, because the context is completely different. Personally I’m quite fascinated with this effect, both as a storyteller and as a pose-creator. To me it’s what makes Sims-Storytelling unique as a creative hobby. Of course as a creator I’ve also noticed the drop in activity in the Sims 3 community over the past few years. Like you, I’m far from creating for download-counts; in fact I prefer the feeling of creating primarily for my circle of online friends. But of course it can also be demotivating and depressing to see this circle grow smaller and smaller. This being said, I think that for ending a simming-career the same thing is true that’s always being said about the beginning and the middle: There’s no use putting pressure on yourself. We’re all here as a hobby, so just do what feels right to you and makes you happy! If this is the case, everything else will fall into place.

I’ve never played Sims 4 and don’t have a copy. I was thinking about doing a story with Avon, he was going to be lost and alone in sims 4.

In the end, I did that story for Joel. But of crouse, he was lost in time.

The thought of getting the Sims 4 hasn’t crossed my mind since then. Well, I haven’t even thought of it until I just read this and you already know the answers to the rest of the questions 🙂 I bet S5 will be out before I get a new sims game. if I ever do that is.

I don’t know how much more life the S3 has. people are moving away from the game. It’s true

but you’ve made so many great looking poses and helped to make so many stories come to life with them. I know I’ve been a little unorthodox in the use of your poses and I can’t tell where they all are, but I have used a few in the past and as you know the new chapter I’m working on will feature a lot of you poses and me for one, I still need you… So please don’t go on to s4, not yet anyway… (I never realized all this was here Bee and they were all so good, I’ve always looked for something specific )

It would be our loss there gain. I can tell you one thing…

As long as there are story writers here for S3. you will always be needed, Bee 🙂
